John Reeder brings decades of experience in public service and environmental leadership to the Dorchester Education Foundation. Appointed Executive Director of the Healthy Schools Network in March 2025, he leads national initiatives to improve indoor air quality, eliminate toxic exposures, and ensure safe, resilient school environments for children across the country.
Prior to this role, John served as Vice President for Federal Affairs at the Environmental Working Group, a nationally recognized environmental advocacy organization. His distinguished career also includes more than 30 years at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where he held senior leadership positions such as Deputy Chief of Staff, Director of Congressional Affairs, and head of the federal Superfund cleanup program.
Following his government service, John shared his expertise as an Executive-in-Residence at American University’s School of Public Affairs, teaching and conducting research on emerging environmental challenges. A U.S. Army veteran, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his service overseas. He later earned a B.S. in Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota and an M.A. in Public Affairs from the University’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
