Lamont Goodson

Lamont Goodson is a proud Cambridge native, educated in the Dorchester County Public School system and a 1984 graduate of Cambridge-South Dorchester High School. After attending college, he began his distinguished career serving eight years in the U.S. Army as a Counterintelligence Agent. Transitioning to law enforcement, he served four years with the Howard County Police Department, before dedicating 21 years as an FBI Special Agent.

Following his retirement, Mr. Goodson returned home to Cambridge, where in late 2023 he was appointed as the city’s first PROTECT Coordinator. In this role—funded by the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention—he champions community-based strategies to enhance public safety, youth engagement, and the effective use of prevention grants.

An active community member, Mr. Goodson also supports youth programming through local flag football initiatives, fostered in partnership with the Cambridge Police Department and ALL4LOVE. Mr. Goodson’s journey—from local student to military officer, law enforcement professional, and now community liaison—underscores his deep commitment to Cambridge and the future of Dorchester County's youth.
